October started out with some excitement when Juan rolled his ankle prettttty bad playing basketball. Thankfully no breaks, but he did have to hobble around on crutches for awhile and take it easy at home. I didn’t complain 😉 We also referred to it as his hobbit foot. From the picture below you can see why! Super cute.
We spent some time at pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and chili parties with friends. We even attempted to have a pumpkin carving party at our house. Which turned into some nice half-carved pumpkins. Turns out I don’t always have the patience for those complicated patterns. But our C3-P0 didn’t turn out half bad! We took a weekend trip down to Thatcher for their county fair and indulged in some greasy foods and small town culture. I think we were all most impressed with the livestock competition. Impressed or grossed out. I’m still not sure. But let’s just say I’ve never seen such large chickens or rabbits in my entire life!
As a little Halloween surprise, my parents got us tickets to the Phoenix symphony Harry Potter special! It was absolutely magical! Everyone there was hardcore dressed up and the Orpheum theatre really helped set the eery magical mood!
For our first Halloween as a married couple, I knew I wanted to take a stab at making our own costumes, but they had to be good! After much debate, we settled on Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. And YES, I made our costumes from scratch! Due to my miniscule sewing abilities, I was rather proud of myself. And I rather enjoyed not having to wear shoes, because we all know I hate shoes. We went to a party with some friends the night before, and then hosted a lil’ get-together the night of. Halloween will always be one of my very favorite holidays!
