For our honeymoon we went to Southern California. We found a little lakehouse resort in San Marcos, right outside Oceanside and just a little drive from San Diego. It was sooooo nice to relax and to not have to worry about being anywhere at a certain time or to not have to run any wedding errands. Honestly, we weren’t quite sure how to handle that much free time ha! It’s safe to say we ate more food and took more naps than we had in the past month combined.
The resort we stayed at was the cutest little place. The pictures were what sold me when we were looking and it did not disappoint. It was clean, it was fresh and we had the prettiest view of the lake. And we were practically the only ones there! Woohoo!
The first night we got put in the handicapped room so our room was GINORMOUS. Seriously, you could do 15 cartwheels across it! We had a good laugh about that. We spent a day down in Oceanside a the beach. One of the highlights had to be breakfast that morning. We stopped into The Breakfast Club in downtown Oceanside and I can’t say enough about it. It was the little 80’s themed diner, and the food was uh-mazing. I’m STILL dreaming about that waffle. Is this not the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?! Hands down the most delicious waffle in the universe. If you find yourself in Oceanside, make sure you find your way to the Breakfast Club. You won’t be sorry! On our last day we tried to make a stop and do a session at the San Diego Temple, but it was closed. Boo! So we did the second be thing, we out for breakfast. Naturally. And we probably should have taken more pictures, but you can only take so many blurry selfies and self-timer pictures. Blurry pictures or not, we had a fantastic time. It was the most bizarre/amazing thing to spend time together all alone away from everything. It felt like we were little kids off on this crazy trip by ourself and that when we came home everything would be back to how it was and we would still have to live in separate houses. But the best thing about it all was realizing that every single day from now on, I get to come home to this kid. And that’s pretty spectacular.
